New Orleans airport opens up airside concessions to non-fliers

Visitors can now take advantage of the airside concessions at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport without buying a ticket.
The MSY Guest Pass scheme gives a limited number of visitors every free access to more than 40 “post-security” concessions at the international aiport.
Guests must pre-register at least 24 hours in advance and supply personal details such as full name and date of birth, which are checked on-site before the pass is issued. Walk-ins are not permitted and the programme is limited to 50 visitors on weekdays and 100 visitors at weekends. Participants may only visit once a month.
Having passed through security, guests have access to the facilities in the newly-opened Terminal 2, which boasts six outlets operated by Stellar Partners and a sense of the local area with stores like Dirty Coast and Fleurty Girl.
The MSY Guest Pass programme launched in December, one month after the inauguration of the new terminal, which was hailed as a “major milestone” by New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
Speaking on the new facility, New Orleans International Airport  Director of Aviation Kevin Dolliole said: “Passengers will feel the spirit of the New Orleans region throughout the facility through the presence of local restaurants and shops that characterize our distinct culture.”
He added: “With modern conveniences like a consolidated security checkpoint and an inline baggage screening system, the new facility will be a major improvement for travellers.”
